A pair of early-mid 2000s Baby Phat capris, crafted in a washed black denim and tonal grey topstitching. They are cut in a low-rise, flattering fit with a close waistband and a gentle flare through the leg. Intricate embroidery is carried throughout the piece, with ornate floral motifs being extensively placed on the reverse, alongside the houses signature embroidered cat medallion, adorned with rhinestones on the right pocket. The front of the capris is decorated with similar embroidery, and also features double branded buttons, metallic contrast stitching and an embroidered belt loop.
Likely released in the early 2000’s, these capris show the eras infatuation with elevated denim, when designers used delicate detailing, rhinestones and interesting silhouettes to transform denim pieces into something that’s a statement of glamour. Baby Phat was central to this movement, bringing hip-hop influences into womenswear and defining denim as a symbol of luxury and sensuality.
